Lots of BJJ Rash Guards for No-Gi - How to choose the right one

How to choose the right BJJ Rash guard?

Selecting the right BJJ rash guard is crucial for performance and comfort in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Whether you’re a beginner attending your first Jiu Jitsu class or an experienced grappler looking to upgrade your gear, finding the best fit can make a big difference on the mat. There are small details incorporated into the make of the pieces that can make for a reliable training session such as:

Materials and Quality

  1. The base material should be the highest quality! You want to find something that both won't rip and protects you from rashes. Having personally tested 7 different brands before starting our own, and sampling from over 10 different manufactures, I find that a mix between 85% Polyester and 15% spandex is the best. This material is much thicker than the normal rash guards you'd find for non grappling and it needs to be if you want it to last. Grappling is tough and you can expect your rash guard to be pulled on.

  2. That leads us nicely into our second consideration, the stitching. You also need to make sure you're getting 4-way stretch stitches! This is so important as anything else will break. I learned the hard way when buying rash guards from Amazon and MA1 that not all stitches are built to last

  3. A rubber band going around your waist will stop your rash guard riding up. That's a lie, it will still happen from time to time, but it will certainly help it! I honestly would never go back to a rash guard that doesn't have one of these

  4. Finally the printing method is really important. You need to make sure that all your rash guards are printed using a sublimation process, unless you want to find a T A T falling off your rash guard that you paid good money for :)

Fit and Style

While the fit is completely down to personal preference, I will say two things for beginners who might not have any information on this topic. Firstly, having a skin tight rash guard reduces rashes and abrasions to the skin while normally being made of a much tougher material, it also just doesn't get in the way so that you don't need think about what you're wearing and can focus more on your rolling.

The second consideration to have is for your training partner. When you're rolling you're going to get sweaty, and if you've ever been in bottom mount against someone with a loser fit sweaty top in your face, it is 100x worse for some reason.

Style is something you're going to have to play around with, lots of brands offer completely different looks, so find one that resonates with you.

The final thing to take into account is price. We pride ourselves in being the cheapest out of all the high quality rash guards on the market (at least pre-discounted)...
